Carolina Engineering is located in the Upstate of South Carolina and specializes in commercial site development, civil design, municipal water/sewer design, and surveying.

Established in 1983 as a civil engineering and surveying firm Carolina Engineering is known for their design experience with water (hydraulic analysis and design of water treatment systems, well and booster pumps, elevated tanks, hydropneumatic tanks, large and small wet well pumps), wastewater (design of wastewater treatment and collection facilities, facultative lagoon, and sewer pump stations), hydrology (analysis and design of storm water runoff and control structures, erosion control, sedimentology, and water quality/bioretention), civil/site design (site grading plans, roads, parking lots, subdivision layouts), and structural design (structural foundations, structural steel, and reinforced masonry). In 2013, Carolina Engineering expanded its services to include a variety of HUD related projects.

OUR TEAM

Mark Amick, P.E., President 

Mark has owned and operated Carolina Engineering since September 2006. He graduated from Clemson University in 1982 with a B.S. in Civil Engineering and is a licensed professional engineer in SC, NC, and GA. Since taking ownership of Carolina Engineering, Mark has designed numerous municipal, commercial, industrial, and institutional sites, including 175+ subdivisions, 200+ church sites, and 50+ school sites. 

Reid Walker, Project Manager 

Reid graduated from Clemson University in 2002 with a B.S. in Civil Engineering. He started working for Carolina Engineering in 2013, after gaining 15 years of experience working for two other engineering firms. During his career he has worked with numerous South Carolina housing authorities and has experience with HUD Modifications, CIAP’s, Comp Grants, Capital Fund Programs, and new developments. His resume also includes: layouts and grading plans for sites, roads, and parking lots, as well as analysis and design of stormwater runoff and control structures, hydraulic analysis and design of water systems and wastewater collection facilities, and settlement analysis. His duties include project planning and design, field inspections, computer aided drafting (AutoCAD), writing technical specifications, reviewing shop drawings, cost estimates and takeoffs, and communicating with project stakeholders. Reid has completed the Uniform Physical Conditions Standards (UPCS) Training and examination and is a Certified Specialist Public Housing Inspector, by The Nelrod Company. 

Ronald L. Burton, P.L.S. 

‘Ronnie’ is a Professional Licensed Land Surveyor in South Carolina. He has worked with Carolina Engineering Service, Inc. since 1983, and leads the Surveying Department. He began his Surveying career in 1968, and in 1970, served in the US Army as an Artillery Surveyor with the 3rd Armored Division. After the Army, he attended Piedmont Technical College in the field of Engineering Graphics Technologies. Through the early-mid ‘70s, and until 1983, he was also employed with (2) other local Civil Engineering firms. He has 46 years of experience and expertise in the Field of Land Surveying and Construction Staking. Among individuals employed in the Surveying Department are: Ray Phillips (Crew Chief and Cad Technician) and Wayne Lawton (Crew Chief and very knowledgeable in Construction Layout). Each has over 25 years of experience in these fields. 

Teddi Miles, Office Manager 

Teddi graduated from Spartanburg Methodist College in 1978, with an Associate Degree in Secretarial Science. She began working for Carolina Engineering in 2014, after working in the legal field for the previous 18 years. Teddi manages the office and coordinates engineering projects.
